Sukanya says: Double cleansing with a “face wash”, which does not contain alcohol or soap is a good idea in the summer. The face wash should be free of fragrances too. Try to avoid products with “paraben”, which is a harmful preservative used in cosmetics. The cleansing should be followed up with “toning” which involves rubbing the skin of your face with a “toner” to remove oil, dirt (and bacteria, depending on the product you use). The adverse effects of pollution on the skin cannot be overstated and this beauty ritual goes a long way in preventing the build-up of chemicals on the epidermis. After toning, apply a light gel or moisturizer on your face depending on your skin type. Don’t overdo it, though, because covering your face with too many products can clog the pores and cause pimples and blackheads. In any case, the skin will not absorb it and it will run with the sweat, making you look messy. Lightweight and natural products are best for the summer season.
